Its pool complex mixes 118F well water to temperatures from the upper 90s to 106F, with a 55F cold plunge and pools zoned by age, including an adults-only pool. Day visitors must book one of three 4-hour swim sessions online in advance.
Jerry Johnson Hot Springs
A set of undeveloped pools along Warm Springs Creek, reached by crossing the Warm Springs Pack Bridge over the Lochsa River at milepost 152 of US Highway 12. There are three groups of pools: the Waterfall Pools, a set in a meadow and a set above the meadow. The Forest Service limits use to 6am-8pm and bans overnight camping at the springs.
Weir Creek Hot Springs
An undeveloped hot spring above Weir Creek near milepost 142 of US Highway 12, with its main pool on a rock slab overlooking the creek. It is about a half-mile uphill walk from the highway. The Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forests closed the site at night in 2022 after injuries and vandalism, and the regional tourism office now lists it as closed until further notice.

Alameda's Hot Springs Retreat
A 1930s spa-motel in the town of Hot Springs whose suites have private in-room hot mineral baths, kitchens and sun porches. Soaking is for overnight guests only, and the retreat says outdoor soaking is not currently available on site. Same-day bookings are taken by phone rather than online.

Symes Hot Springs Hotel & Mineral Baths
A historic 1928 hotel in the town of Hot Springs with 48 rooms, cabins, apartments and RV sites. Outdoor mineral pools run from about 103F to 110F, with a waterfall between two of them and a 20 x 40 ft swimming pool, and the bath wing still has original clawfoot tubs in private stalls. The hotel also rents a jetted tub and steam room by the hour and offers massage.

Wild Horse Hot Springs
A rustic, off-grid soaking site outside the town of Hot Springs with communal outdoor plunges fed by the Mother Dragon artesian well. The plunges are chemical-free and continuously refreshed, and soakers can open hot-water valves to adjust the temperature. Rustic cabins and tipis share a bathhouse; there is no restaurant, so bring food and water.

Stanley Hot Springs
Backcountry soaking pools in a clearing above the trail, fed by hot water flowing toward Huckleberry Creek. They are about five miles up Boulder Creek Trail 211 from Wilderness Gateway Campground on US Highway 12, past Huckleberry Flat and across Boulder Creek. The regional tourism office recommends late spring, summer or early winter.

Lost Trail Hot Springs Resort
A family resort at the base of Lost Trail Pass in the upper Bitterroot Valley, on the site of the old Gallogly Hot Springs. A chemical-free 20 x 70 ft pool averages about 95F and is covered by a dome in colder months, alongside a 103-105F hot tub and a dry sauna. Lodges, cabins and an RV park and campground are on site; hours are limited outside July and August.

Fairmont Hot Springs Resort
A large resort between Butte and Anaconda with 152 rooms, golf, a spa and hot springs pools fed by a 600-ft well. Pools are open only to overnight resort and condo guests and members, not day visitors. Phase 1 of a pool renovation added an adults-only tiered soaking pool, a family soaking pool, a lap pool and a cold plunge; phase 2 is under construction.

Broadwater Hot Springs & Fitness
Helena's hot springs pool and fitness center on US 12 west of town, on a site used since 1889. A single-use pass covers five hot pools, two cool contrast pools, a sauna, a steam room and the gym, with The Springs Taproom & Grill serving poolside. The pools are lightly chlorinated as the city requires and drained and cleaned weekly.

Red River Hot Springs
An off-grid lodge in the Nez Perce National Forest near Elk City with a natural hot spring pool that is not chlorinated. It rents lodge rooms, cabins (one with its own outdoor mineral soaking tub) and dry RV and tent sites, and a cafe serves burgers and breakfast burritos on weekends. Day soaks are paid per visit with no re-entry, and nudity is prohibited.

It sits at 6,200 feet, about 36 miles of forest roads west and north of North Fork. There is no potable water and there are no picnic tables or fire rings.

Boulder Hot Springs Inn, Spa & Retreat Center
A historic inn and retreat center 3 miles from Boulder in the Elkhorn Mountain foothills, run as an alcohol-, drug- and smoke-free property. Day passes cover an outdoor pool kept at about 96-100F and indoor plunges and steam rooms, with separate women-only and co-ed sides. The indoor hot plunges are continuous-flow without harsh chemicals, while the outdoor pool uses bromine.
Barth Hot Springs
A riverside hot spring on the Wild and Scenic Main Salmon River in the Frank Church-River of No Return Wilderness, reached only by boat on a multi-day float. The Forest Service calls it the only hot spring on the river and asks boaters not to camp or stop for lunch there. Soap and nudity are not allowed, and the rocks on the short climb up are loose and wet.
Elkhorn Hot Springs
A remote resort in the Pioneer Mountains of the Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest, about 40 miles northwest of Dillon, with two outdoor mineral pools and a Grecian sauna. Lodging includes rustic and modern cabins and lodge rooms, and groomed cross-country ski trails start nearby. After closing during the 2026 Sand Creek Fire it has reopened for pools only, Thursday through Sunday.

Jackson Hot Springs Lodge
A rustic lodge in the Big Hole Valley town of Jackson with one outdoor hot springs pool at 100-106F that the lodge says uses no chemicals. Rooms, sleeper cabins and rental houses come with swim passes, and the pool is also open to the public. The pool, restaurant and lodge are closed Monday through Wednesday.

Pipestone Village & Hotsprings
