How we ranked

Values are the median of lab samples from the monitoring site that best matches the spring source, within about 1–2 miles, from the USGS/EPA Water Quality Portal. Pools are often diluted or cooled, so what you soak in can be milder than the source. Only springs with lab data are ranked. We report measurements only, not health effects.

Every listing is checked against the venue's or land agency's own website. We only include wild springs that a land agency or tourism office publishes. Rules and access change, so confirm before you go. Last verified November 2026.
